The banners in these photographs - taken in Berlin in 1989 - are the product of the same ‘tolerance’ which makes ‘liberal democracies’ so prone to waging war on other types of regime and to race-replacing their own populations. If diversity is a value-in-itself, as we’re often told, then anti-diversity is valuable in itself. Why then is it to be eliminated? Note the skeleton and the terminology of the ethnic cleanser.

Expel the Nazis! Foreigners stay!

I found the photos in a book called ‘Annihilating Difference: The Anthropology of Genocide.’ I suppose a critical anthropology of ‘anti-racism’ might be titled ‘Annihilating Difference through Anti-racism: The Anthropology of Ethnocide.’
